The small group who sat around a table in the White Hart in the Autumn of 1995 to discuss forming the band agreed on several points that became the "ethos" of  Phoenix Brass.

•  It is a friendly band with none of the internal politics that can spoil what should be an enjoyable hobby.
•  It is a hobby!
•  It is understood that there is a life outside of the "Brass Band Movement" and that people have busy lives.

Consequently the band only takes a select number of engagements and normally only rehearses once each week. We take our music seriously.
