Now retired.  Formerly Managing Director of a group of electronic companies serving the construction industry.  A Chartered Electrical & Electronics Engineer.

Number of Children:
2.  Sarah, married to Kevin living in Malvern with granddaughters Kirstie Elizabeth and Carrie Christina.  Sarah plays saxophone and clarinet.  Ken married to Louise living in Aylesbury with grandaughter Elly.  Ken plays cornet and trumpet but is currently out of action.  (Don't buy a house.)

Who taught you to play?
My dad was going to but because I argued, I taught myself (and it shows)

Have you played any other brass instrument?
Horn, Baritone and Bass Trombone.  I have also played timpani.  I currently play a range of trumpets, Bb, C, D/Eb.

Do you have any other hobbies?
I am heavily into computerised music and sequence a lot of mainly classical music.  I also sequence modern hymns from which I produce CD's to be used in church services.  I have arrange and written a lot of choral music and I intend to try my hand at arranging for band.  I am currently trying to master the art of playing the piccolo trumpet.  I like walking and photography and have just started using a digital camcorder.  Occasionally I try my hand at cooking.

Piano, Church Organ, Keyboards and Recorders

Which other bands have you played with?
Moston & Beswick (Manchester) Band,  Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band, Brindle Brass Band (Preston), Ammanford Town Silver Band - for whom I was Musical Director for 3 years, Poole Borough Band.  I have played with various orchestras and sung with and conducted choirs.  I currently play with the Dorset County Orchestra, sing with the Beaminster Singers and play with West Dorset Recorder Ensemble when time permits.

Have there been any special moments for you with Phoenix?
Yes, playing in the Championship section in the Wessex contest with "no chance" and coming 5th and beating my previous band, Poole

What does the support of our 'Friends of Phoenix' mean to you?
It is good to have people who support the band without playing and encourage those of us who do.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I have enjoyed the friendliness at Phoenix Brass during the 4 years I have played with them.
