Exmouth Entertainment Contest

We played here as the Reigning Champions 2009. This was our first Contest under are new and talented ( he made me say talented! ) Musical Director Dave Hatton ATCL who chose the programme of music to play which included original music by Black Dyke’s Percussionist Paul Lovatt-Cooper – Walking with Heroes. A fantastic arrangement by Norwegian Svein Henry Giske of Pat Metheny’s hit Letter from Home. It was our Solo spot and was fantastically played by Julie Bulgin with Children of Sanchez. Out last two pieces were both arranged by Chris King of the Grenadier Guards, with the first being a Karl Jenkins gem called “ And the Mother did weep “ from Stabat Mater. Our closing piece was the jazz great call “ Spain “.

This was a programme which had something for everybody but not at it would seem everything, for the adjudicator Dr Chris Davis OBE, as he placed us 3rd. As a whole we were very pleased with the result as we were just about settling in with our new Conductor. We even had 4 percussionists for this Contest and they all did a fantastic job. Many thanks Nicola for sorting out the Lads!. Mark & Hannah also played with us at the Pavilion Concert  On the Green. It was also nice to see Paul Slator ( our previous Conductor ) help out on Trombone for the day.

Released On 4th Sep 2010
