In the latest regional band competition held at The Riviera Centre in Torquay, Phoenix fought valiantly against fierce competition, ultimately securing the 15th position out of 18 participating bands.

The event, which showcased a diverse range of musical talents from across the region, witnessed electrifying performances from many of the bands. Despite the intense competition, Phoenix managed to captivate the audience with their unique blend of sincere music making and infectious energy.

Musical Director Paul Denegri expressed gratitude to the band for the hard work and extra rehearsals, stating, "I genuinely believe there is something very special about Phoenix, it's members, it's ethos, it's love of music and it's future ahead."

Although Phoenix didn't clinch the top spot, the band remains undeterred, viewing the competition as a learning opportunity to hone their craft further. Euphonium player Duncan Pavey emphasized, "We should all be proud of our performance, everyone was laughing and smiling afterwards which was fantastic. We have come so far in the last year with a fantastic MD in Paul. We'll take this experience, build on it and move forward."

Despite their 15th-place finish, Phoenix received praise for their passion and dedication, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating their future performances. As they continue to refine their sound and expand their repertoire, the band remains a prominent fixture in the local music scene, poised to make waves in the brass band world in the coming months.
