Dillington House Open Day 2011

On Sunday Phoenix took to the lawns at Dillington House to perform as part of their annual Open Day. With the sun making a rare appearance, there was more of a crowd than last year.

The Open Day at Dillington is a relaxed event which the band look forward to playing at. The day is a free day offering people a chance to look around the house itself but also to see and sample what courses and events Dillington House offers.

The band played 2 programmes of about 45 minutes throughout the afternoon, and enjoyed a good response from those who stopped to listen. A few mentions that we have to make include a congratulations to young Mark Bulgin who played a superb rendition of "The Lost Chord" on the cornet. For a young chap of 12, Mark showed no nerves and played fantastically well. Mark's younger sister Hannah was also part of the cornet rank, playing 2nd cornet on her own for some of the concert. Well done Hannah, hopefully it won't be long until you're coming to band every week and you and Mark can take control of the cornet section.

A few thanks must go to Jimmy and Martin who came along to help bolster the cornet bench, and also to Steve on baritone.

Thanks to the organisers at Dillington and to all those supporters who came to listen.

Released On 6th Sep 2011
