Ilminster Midsummer Experience 2019

The band were delighted to return to Ilminster’s Midsummer Experience this afternoon for the third year running, interestingly each year under the direction of a different Musical Director due to various commitments but pleased our permanent MD; David Boorer was able to take the baton today.

Our afternoon concert commenced with Kenneth Alford’s march ‘Army of the Nile’ then continuing the African theme by playing A. Fernies arr. of Out of Africa. Our first soloist of the afternoon was by our recently appointed Soprano Cornet player; Matt who performed a beautiful arrangement of ‘Bring him Home’ from Les Misérables. Our varied programme continued with our first set ended with Bohemian Rhapsody from the recently self titled film.

After a short break the band began there second set with the popular brass band number; Floral Dance. Our second soloist of the day was Jasmine Pavey who beautifully performed ‘Go the Distance’ from the Disney film ‘Hercules’. As the crowds started to disperse with the over looming rain clouds forming, the band ended our concert with a selection from the music of ABBA.

A big thank you to all the organisers of the Ilminster Midsummer Experience who make this enjoyable event happen each year. We hope to be back performing again in the near future.
