Last Night of the Proms

Last Friday evening saw Phoenix take to the stage at Huish Episcopi school for a "Last Night of the Proms" concert in conjunction with the Langport and Somerton Rotary Club. This was the fourth year in five that the band was invited back by the club, with all proceeds of the night to be passed onto their charity of choice.

As always, the evening was well supported by the Rotary Club and band friends. With the band playing a varied selection of music in the first half before everyone joined in the fun with the flag waving and singing of the last night of the proms music.

Noteable features of the evening include:

  • Dan, Emma and Andy featured together in a superb cornet trio, Trumpet's Wild
  • Julie Bulgin featured with an excellent rendition of the Concerto de Aranjuez
  • The band played a rendition of Happy Birthday for Julie's mum

A huge thanks goes to Stan and all the friends and supporters of the Rotary Club. Thanks for inviting the band back and we hope we'll be back again next year.
