Last Night of the Proms Concert at Huish

There are only 2 days to go until Phoenix will be taking to the stage at Huish Episcopi School for the annual "Last Night of the Proms" concert organised by the Langport and Somerton Rotary Club. This will be the 3rd year running that Phoenix have been invited back by the Rotary Club, and we are all hoping that this years concert will be as much a success as the last two.

This concert will be a first for the band, as we have had to employ the services of a new conductor, Kevin Robbins, as our resident Musical Director, Paul Slator is away on a much deserved holiday. Kevin is usually found "waving his stick" in front of the Yeovil Town Band, but he has kindly offered to stand in for the concert at Huish. Kevin is better known to followers of brass bands for his cornet playing, having played principal cornet for Brodsworth Colliery Band, Sun Life and Flowers of Gloucester to name but a few bands. Kevin has been working with us for the past couple of weeks preparing the band in readiness for the concert on Friday, which we are all now eagerly looking forward to.

We hope that you can come and join us on Friday to enjoy our music and help raise money for the Rotary Club charities.

Anyone interested in obtaining tickets, you can either:

Tickets cost £7.50 each, all proceeds from the evening are to be split between the band and local charities chosen by the Rotary Club.

Released On 30th Sep 2009
