Wells Bandstand 2017 - Part 1

On Sunday we made our first of two visits to Wells as part of bandstand concerts held throughout the summer. Unfortunately the weather Gods were against us again and as per our job at Windwhistle on Bank Holiday Monday, the rain forced us to play indoors, this time in the nearby Bishop's Barn.

Playing in the barn was good, for one it kept us all dry, but the acoustic in the barn suited the band. We played two sets of music, from a variety of styles and influences. We featured two exceptional arrangements by one of our own band members, Graham (cornet), who arranged a beautiful rendition of "Ave Maria" by Caccini and Matt Read (principal cornet) wowed the audience with Graham's arrangement of "Feeling Good" for solo cornet.

Last year we played on the bandstand in blazing sunshine to a park full of listeners, sadly the rain meant the number in attendance for yesterdays concert was small. We'd like to thank the hardy ones who ventured out in the wet and hope you enjoyed our concert. Here's hoping on our return visit in August we will again see the sunshine.
